Re: Time
I'm not eighteen for a little over a year, and I'll have to figure out transportation, but after that I'm willing to set out as soon as there's a place to set out to.

Re: Time
I have the ability to travel just about anywhere in the US. Once we figure out where New Eden's gonna be (at least a general location), I could go there.

Re: Time
Thread Necromancy
It has been a little over a year since this forum was made.
Many people have stopped in and posted on the population thread, touting this and that; only to vanish as quickly as they'd appeared.
One can only assume that the majority of these people lack the attention span required to focus on a plan long enough to bring it to fruition.
Disheartening at the very least.
The little voice in the back of my head says defiance is necessary to combat this.
So, I am come here, to ask any of the board who choose to humor me, if/can we have a list of goals and possibly a time line for this current year?
p.s. - It wasn't curiosity that killed the cat, it was boredom.

Re: Time
You want it, you got it waitwhat. Here's a tentative list of what I have planned so far, month by month (events marked by an [S] are my responsibility):
January - February:
- Research legal aspects of administering a nonprofit. [Working on it]
- Contact pre-established intentional communities (and Colorado residents) for advice. [In progress]
- Complete "Grand Strategy" [Working on it]

March - April:
- Attain tax exemption and, concurrently, 501(c)(3) status. [S]
- Get a bank account and start putting money into it.
- Continue searching for properties, possibly get into contact with one or more sellers.
- Step up recruitment efforts. Possibly get in touch with old members at this point, as well as potentially interested members from defunct projects and the like. Create a website, ̶f̶a̶c̶e̶b̶o̶o̶k̶ ̶p̶a̶g̶e̶,̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶/̶o̶r̶ ̶I̶C̶ ̶l̶i̶s̶t̶i̶n̶g̶.̶
May - June:
- Begin recruiting in earnest.
- Start taking applications for membership.
- Start receiving donations.
- The search for land should be narrowed down to a small handful of properties at this point. One or more members may be able to survey them in person.
July - August:
- Determine the core group of members (Board of Directors) who will be building and living in the town.
- Continue running donation drives and receiving contributions from members.
Unfortunately, there's no telling how long we'd have to wait until we have enough money to buy the property and start building. If interest in the project rebounds and things start moving at an accelerated pace, we might even have the property by the end of the year.

Re: Time
Fantastic, thank you!
It is good to see the goals with a timeline laid out, in a clean organized fashion, instead of sprawled out over a forum

It is a good dream, like the last had just before one wakes in the mourning

Re: Time
The irony is that this was part of a prophecy.
